January reads

This year I am determined to keep to some of my new years resolutions. On my first post on here I wrote a list of them, one of them being to read at least one book a month. It's the 9th of January and I can already tick off that as I have read a book this month. Two actually. I knew that it would be a lot easier this month because we have had some time off school for Christmas but it still counts! I've decided i'm going to review the book I read each month on here! (How exciting!!)

The Fault In Our Stars
I've mainly decided to write this blog post because of this book. I just need to talk about it. I've been wanting to read a John Green book for the longest time so when my auntie bought it me for Christmas, I was ecstatic to say the least! John Green is a beautiful writer. This book took me on a emotional journey and is probably the reason I am very emotional unstable right now as I got very (maybe too much) invested in the characters. If you are wanting a book about fairies and unicorns and all things happy this may not be the book for you as some of the content is very heavy but yet I found myself laughing out loud at other parts. I'm a sucker for a romance and this book provides that but it also provides so much more than that as well. Hazel Grace Lancaster and Augustus Waters take you on a journey throughout the book that leave you at end slightly heartbroken but also uplifted. A book about a cancer patient is normally about the acceptance of death whereas this is the journey of the acceptance of life. They ask questions that relate to all of us - Will I leave my mark on the world? Will I be loved? Will I be remembered? And the acceptance of life being life and sometimes that it isn't fair. I could ramble about this book for a very long time and about how I loved it so much and how much it helped me put life into perspective (it really did)  but what I will say is if you get the opportunity to read this, please do. If I ever meet John Green I will give him a hug for writing this book.

One Perfect Summer
This was the second book I read this month, I am a massive sucker for cheesy romance tales with a summer fling where the couple gets ripped apart from their families and life takes them separate ways and then are reunited after many years too re-kindle their flame that never died (I hope this was read super dramatically) Joe and Alice provided me with exactly this. I did love this book and will happily read it again. I loved Alice's character, she is a quiet girl and is innocent and naive when it comes to boys after not having much experience. I loved the development of their relationship and how Alice was very protective over Joe, I loved how throughout the book even though they hadn't seen each other in years Joe was always prominent in Alice's mind, I  also enjoyed the the anticipation that builds up throughout the book as to when Joe is going to come back (not a spoiler, it's in the blurb) It was a fantastically written book that kept me hooked throughout. A great romance novel for anyone who adores a good love story. (I ALSO JUST FOUND OUT THAT THERE IS A SEQUEL CALLED 'ONE PERFECT CHRISTMAS'. SOMEONE BUY ME IT. I NEED MORE OF ALICE'S AND JOE'S TRIUMPHS AND TRIBULATIONS IN MY LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!)

Today I bought Miranda's book - 'Is it just me?' So maybe i'll review that next month as I'm sure i'll love it as I adore her. I also bought a journal. How exciting. (!!!!)
I'll leave you with a favourite quote of mine from The Fault In Our Stars
